Figjam

Do you want to know why I love MamaKat’s Writer’s Workshop? Because it gives me one day per week (on the weeks I remember to do it) when I don’t have to think about an absolutely amazing topic for a blog post. Today, she’s giving me the opportunity to introduce you to one of my favorite words from last year that is going to be my mantra for this year…

Figjam

I’ve decided that 2013 is going to be my year to shine. Because of that, I’m going to need positive affirmations to get me through those times when I am fairly certain I suck big time.  Yes, it would be much better to rid my brain of the negative “You’ll never do it” thoughts, but I’ve lived with this brain for  35 years and I’m pretty sure that, short of a lobotomy, that’s not going to happen.

The solution? Find a fun word that will remind me  that I can, and will, accomplish my goals this year. There is no word better suited for the job than Figjam. Go ahead, say it out loud a few times…

Did you do it? No? I kinda meant it when I said to say it out loud. You’ll feel better, trust me!

See, it’s just a FUN word! Now, some people might say it’s a bit cocky to adopt Figjam as my word of 2013. I say hell no! It’s perfect because even if other people tell me that I’m good, I have a tendency to think the worst. I’m pretty sure some of my friends are sick of it. So, I’m going to take time daily to say figjam and recite the definition. I AM good. By the end of the year, you will be able to ask me and I’ll tell you that too!

workshop-button-1This post was written as part of MamaKat’s Writer’s Workshop. In 2013, I hope to participate every week. In 2013, I will probably remember to participate 15 times. It’s who I am…

  1. I like figjam because it can take on whatever meaning you assign it. If it helps you to remember how terrific you are, then it is the perfect word. Who knows? Perhaps you can turn it into your personal brand somehow. Thanks for sharing. M
